Vegetable tanned leather is an time honored method of making a durable leather hide. It can take up to a year to turn a hide into finished leather . Using only bark from oak and other plants, cow hide is transformed into a supple yet strong material that can last a lifetime. Leather is a by product of the meat industry and only 1% of hides are made into leather. No animals are killed just to make our leather.
